We finally had the results of the endocopies and capsule camera today.
Josh's crohns in now in his small bowel, he has ulcers in the ileum and his stomach lining --- no wonder he struggled to eat and lost so much weight!

They are starting him on azathioprine tomorrow, and possibly methotraxate in a few weeks if he doesn't respond to the aza.

It is good to know the cause after all this time, it has been a hard slog getting here.

Josh is staying in hospital now until Saturday, then they are letting him home for a few days, and back in next week to check he is doing okay.

Thanks for the update :)
Hope the aza does the trick, but it can take up to 3 months to take full affect.
I'm happy that you have some answers !

I don't understand that about "working well enough". It sounds more like they want to see if he is tolerating it well enough to start the second med. It isn't supposed to "work well enough" for 3-6 months... I'm sorry his Crohn's is worse. I hope he gets relief soon.

Good luck to your boy CDJ! I hope the meds do their thing and he is soon feeling better.

Well we are now home. It has been a long haul this time, but Josh is doing so much better than he was, he is like a different child to what he has been over the past few weeks.

I really hope he continues to do well on all the meds he is on. I got a "sort of" apology from his doctor, saying your "mum was right all along" when they realised that there was an actual problem and it wasn't me being an over anxious mother:yrolleyes: It has taken me 5 months to get to this point, but at least we now know the cause and Josh is doing well, that is all I wanted all along:smile:

Thank you all so much for your help and advice and listening to my never ending ramblings sometimes :ylol: I am sure there will be times again I am going to need you all, and I am so pleased that there is somewhere like this and people that understand :ghug:
