Rifaximin - Will it help GI symptoms?

Will Rifaximin help with bloating, gas, nausea, and abdominal pain? I'm taking Amoxicillin first to get the inflammation of the uvula and tonsils down, (so I will be able to swallow the large Rifaximin pill) then starting a course of Rifaximin. My GI doc said that an overgrowth of bacteria could cause some sort of gas and affect how the colon works. Anyone every heard of this? If you could you please share your experience? Thank you.

I did two rounds of rifaximin, without any improvement, but I know that it does help some people so I hope you're one of the ones that it helps!

Chickadee, did you do twenty days worth of Rifaximin?

I think that the first time, I did ten days, and the second time, fourteen, but both were quite some time ago.
