I'm wondering if anyone gets an increase in right side pain when using their right arm? I get a lot of upper right quadrant pain, and more recently increasing lower right quadrant pain and often using my right arm increases the pain significantly. Things like typing on a keyboard, and motion of bringing a phone to my right ear, even now, I am typing this on my phone with my right index finger and every movement sends shooting pains to my right side. A couple weeks ago I tried butchering meat and after a few seconds of the cutting motion with my right arm I was in agony. Has anyone else experienced this?

The "shooting pains" makes me think pinched nerve or possibly something going on in your rotator cuff, trapezius, infraspinatus, or your teres major or minor. Is the upper right quadrant pain more in your chest or back area?

I've always theorized that some of my LRQ pain is due to old baseball injuries in the areas I mentioned so I've been working to heal them.

Thanks for your reply. I had to google all of the muscle names after rotator cuff :). I don't think I explained myself properly. All of the pain is in the front (well, inside), intestine area. Most right below my rib cage. By shooting I meant very sharp quick pains that come and go. Maybe stabbing is a better description? It isn't always accompanied by right arm movement, but it often makes it worse. Nothing anywhere in my arm hurts. It kind of feels as though moving my arm puts more stress on my organs and makes them hurt worse It is kind of hard to explain.

I see :) The first thing to come to mind after reading all of that is this though the arm stuff throws me off a bit.

In the end, I'd suggest getting checked out by your doctor. I'm sorry you're in so much pain :( I'm sure they can get you fixed right up!

Hopefully someone comes along that can commiserate :)

Sorry I wasn't clearer the first time. :).
I had my gallbladder removed in May, after an ejection fraction of 13%. Afterwards the pain continued and a blockage in my bile duct was found. That was fixed and the pain continued. That lead to a CT that lead to a colonoscopy that lead me to Crohn's. My doctors think it is Crohn's pain, but are a little stumped by the fact that using my arm makes it worse.

Ah, so you have been checked by your doctors for it, that's good! In that case, the yoga teacher in me is going back to my original theory :) I know it sounds weird, but quite often pain can be referred meaning the point of pain is not where the actual issue is.

If you'd like to do a little science experiment on yourself, grab a tennis ball and do this on those back muscles I listed and in your shoulder area. Then do it on your right hip area. See if that relieves the pain at all OR if you have any super sensitive points that are going to need lots of massage before things start to relax and settle down.

Interesting! I think I'll give it a try. Now to get a tennis ball that isn't dog destroyed! I went to an acupuncturist for the first time last week. I was really surprised at all the pin-point places that I had no idea about that she found that were incredibly sore. I know it is different, but kind of reminds me of what you are saying.

Ah-ha! :). Well, I believe you! I was a bit skeptical when I went in for the acupuncture (but not so skeptical I wasn't willing to try it out). The first time she applied a little pressure asked if it hurt, I was convinced. Ouchy! I had no idea those places even existed! It also didn't hurt that I left on an endorphin high and for a few hours felt better than I have in a year! She said all of my digestive points are very depleted. I'm going to have weekly appointments for a while to try to get things in better shape. I think I will still pick up that tennis ball next time I'm at the store though! :)
