saw the GI today for results
I saw my GI today hoping for the results of my colonoscopy. I kind of got them, but, alas, there are more tests to be had.
He said that the scarring that was found in my terminal ileum 5 years ago is still there. The nurse that called with my results said my TI was normal, so I was a bit confused as to how that scar tissue disappeared. So it's still there, which I guess is a sign of Crohn's, but not definate. There is inflammation in my colon and some of the biopsies showed infection. Now he needs to find out if I have an infection colitis or Crohn's.
Next Monday (a week from today) I have to have an EGD (thank the good Lord I don't have to DRINK anything!) so he can check to see if there is inflammation anywhere else. On my last EGD (again, 5 years ago) there was inflammation........somewhere.......stomach maybe? I'd have to go look.
I also had to have a blood draw so he could test for genetic markers(?) to see if I could have Crohn's. It only took the phlebotomist 3 pokes! Not bad. I have bad veins.........anyone else?
I do have a concern about my EGD though -- he's starting me on Prednisone for the inflammation and Flagyl for the infection today, so when I have my EGD in a week, won't it be OK since the meds should be doing their job by then?
So many questions.............can a person have Crohn's with a negative genetic marker? They won't call me a lupus patient because those labs are negative, but my rheumy is still treating me for it technically. For mild lupus anyway. I just hope that I get the correct treatment so I don't advance..............some of you have such HORROR stories regarding this disease. Very scary.
