there is also methotrexate

I took asacol in past, an I took remicade an since humira is same dr said it would not help me so I am wondering does that mean take my colon I have colitis also an gastritis an diverticulosis. fibromyalgia, hyena hernia, keep having to have my esophagus stretched, an I have had breast cancer an had lot other surgeries in my past,,, but I am kinda scared of something that has not been used much I am allergic also to most all antibiotics an contrast dyes,, you name it I am allergic so it has been rough,, an thank you

Hello PW, hubby had a anaphylactic reaction while on Humira now he's on Remicade (not working like it use to) before Humira he was on Flagil & 6mp. Ask your Dr about Cimzia.

Is cinza a infusion type, I can not take any pill forms I have a certain gene in my body that does digest pills,, I have Crohn's an colitis so I was wondering what the university will do.. will they take my colon since I am allergic to other infusion med.

We haven't suggested anything that isn't given either by injection or infusion. :)

So far you only had an allergic reaction to Remicade. They aren't the same thing so the other biologics may still work for you.

They may run tests on you and will look over your history before deciding on a course of action. You do have a say in whatever they suggest. So be sure to ask them about Humira, Cimzia, Tysabri and Methotrexate (via injection, this one also comes in pill form but clearly you don't want that). :) Good luck!

It's unlikely that they would remove your colon when you have Crohn's. If it were Ulcerative Colitis and your colon wasn't salvageable then that's a possibility but with Crohn's you may deal with the disease returning after surgery if you're not on any type of treatment. With Crohn's, if the section isn't salvageable then it could be removed but again you'll still need a treatment plan following surgery.

hi, been awhile since been on but during that time I had breast cancer come back again an had to have a double mastectomy,, an have catarcacs on my eyes an I did not say before but I have ulcerative colitis with the Crohn's an I have just had to endure all this until I just had my BCANCER surg finished feb 11, an so now I know I have to do something about my Crohn's an colits,, it is painful,, just taking one day a time.. healing.. but I don't know what to do, I guess make apt back with GI an they still want me to go to the university due to can not take remicade or humira, an I have TMPT GENE.. HELP IF ANYONE KNOWS.. I think when I took remicade it brought back cancer cells in my breast, because so much going on after the allergic reaction thinking I had lymphoma,, but so far I do not

I'm so sorry to hear that preetywoman53. :( I'm glad your surgery went well though and I hope you won't have to deal with Cancer ever again. Unfortunately I don't have anymore information to give about Remicade. Get as many opinions as you can though from your GI and Cancer specialist. Since you last posted Entyvio (Vedolizumab) has been approved for the treatment of IBD (Crohn's and UC), has your GI mentioned it? If not maybe you could ask them about it as well when you see them again. Also was Cimzia ever an option?

Here's info on the TPMT gene: http://ghr.nlm.nih.gov/gene/TPMT
