I got diagnosed a year ago when i was 15 and after short periods of relief from pentasa and prednisone, my symptoms are back and im scared. Nothing i try helps me feel any better, and im sick of CD controlling my life. I cant concentrate in school, is there anything i can do to naturally help myself?:(

tc24, sorry to hear you feel so obviously unwell & depressed. There are all sorts of things you can try.
Live Yoghurt is often mentioned, less fiber when in a flare up gives your bowel less work to do. So avoiding fiber that the body cannot process like mushrooms, potato skins, some high fiber cereals might help.
And lastly this board-you are amongst friends here who understand your feelings. There is a special section for teenagers that you may want to have a look @. Hope it reassures you & you get many hints & tips on how to deal with Crohns.
Best Wishes

Greetings and welcome,

Awww, I'm sorry you're having so much trouble, you poor thing :( Have you spoken with your doctor regarding your symptoms coming back? If so, do they have a new plan in store for you?

We DO have a teen only forum here that is password protected as well. If you'd like access, please let me know.

I hope things get better for you real soon!

See you around!

Hi and welcome! I am sorry you are dealing with Crohn's at such a young age. If you are experiencing symptoms, I'd suggest speaking up to your parents and seeing your doctor. It's important to address any symptoms before they get worse. And by being proactive, it sometimes is easier to address any arising issues.

But in the mean time, try you best to relax and take your mind off your Crohn's. Stress can make you feel worse. Read a book, watch a movie, chat on Facebook - do whatever you do to relax. Also, watch your diet. You may want to stick to a bland meal plan for a little bit. When I am not feeling my best, I stick with easy to digest foods - rice, soup, chicken, fish, potatoes, applesauce, yogurt, toast, and oatmeal. It isn't exciting, but it sits well.

I hope you feel better soon.

Be completely honest with your doctor about your symptoms. Sometimes they don't realize how much it is affecting you unless you really explain it to them. I'm sorry it's getting to you so bad right now. We all have our ups and downs with this horrible disease too. A change in your medication could really help a lot. Hang in there, it's a bump in the road. You will have healthy days soon! Welcome:)

I would definitely try changing your diet. Eliminating gluten could help... it is hard to digest. I'm so sorry you are going through this at 15. I was diagnosed at 14 and it wasn't easy. I had been sick for so long before though, I was relieved to finally know what was wrong with me so I could start dealing with it. Hang in there, don't be scared. There are so many people out there dealing with the same or similar situation that you are. It really helps to talk about it and be honest with people you are close to about your symptoms. Good luck!
