My son's scopes went fine.

Visually all looks well.:)
Thanks to Grace I won't get excited until I hear about the biopsies' results.

OK, the GI said that he has a redundant colon.

His ascends up like normal but goes down, loops around and then goes back up and then down again to the rectum. In my mind it's a shape of a M with a twist in the middle bottom. It's longer then a normal colon (of course, he's my kid).

The GI said for most it's not a problem.

Have any of you heard of this?

I hoping for the results tomorrow or Monday.

I have seen a few members here that have 'loopy and floppy' bowels. As a general rule it is low down, as you describe, and is associated with constipation but no doubt there will always exceptions to the rule.

Good luck with the results hun, I hope it does indeed prove that your boy is in the clear! :ghug:

Here's a journal article about redundant colon. It would appear that no one is sure if it's partly the cause of constipation (due to poor motility of the elongated colon) or partly the result of constipation. This article says it is often removed but not why.

If they want to remove it you would probably have takers on the board for the left over parts. ;)

I'll start the bid at a $1000.00 American dollars. :ylol2:
Unless your currency is with more. Than please use yours.

J had a long transverse colon as well, but no twisty loop - just the middle M - the doc was glad to see it on MRE before the colonoscopy as they can be difficult to navigate otherwise...
