I've had Crohn's for over 20 years and have been been able to keep it under control with ASA's for occasional flare ups. However the last year has been one long flare up and the doctor put me on Remicade. Just had the second dose yesterday and hoping to feel better soon.

My biggest concern is my low Iron and blood count. My count has be in the low 7's and I am taking weekly iron infusions to help bring it up.

I just hope all these infusions help... I feel like a pin cushion.

Keeping it positive.

Did you have any side effects from the first dose? Sounds like you have had too many but necessary tests. Good luck with your regimine.

Thanks! No side effects from my first two doses. I'm hoping to see some progress soon... they say it takes until the 3rd doses before you notice any improvemnts.

Oh yeah and for me the 3rd dose really brought me back on my feet.

Since then I'm a changed man!

Good luck and keep us posted!

I had my second dose today, feel a little wobbly put don't really know if that is from the remicade. I had lower doses of premeds this time, Benadryl 20mg, decadron and Pepcid.

I never made it to my third dose. I had an emergency operation for an abscess that perforated. They ended up taking about a foot off my small intestine. So now I am home recuperating and waiting see what the doctor recommends next.... what a ride.

I am so sorry Zuzu, this disease has so many turns. Ive had a Crohn's related surgery in each decade except for the 201x one knock on wood the remicade is helping. Each time it takes longer to recover strength. i hope you are healing fast and get put on some maintenance dose that works for a long time.

Thanks.... I hope to sit down with my GI soon to decide the best way to manage it. I don't ever want to go through this again.

Maybe a dumb question, but what do you mean by "back on your feet" what has it changed for you?

Simple after my two stoma bag adventure I ended up in a flare for 1 year. Nothing worked, I was in pain tired depressed, I have a wife and three kids and my kids are now 9-11-13 so imagine 2 years ago when all this was hapening life sucked for me and for my family.

now that I am finally on Remicade I am my old self again. Full of energy. Except for watery bm I am able to eat and live. I can play with my kids I can go out with my wife and have fun. Ic an work without any pains.

That's what it means :)

I agree with moogie, third treatment yesterday evening but after the first there was improvement that has brought things back to where I feel like I can deal with the diarrhea and bloating and all the "normal"crohns stuff in between real flare ups. Everything doesn't hurt anymore!
