After having delayed it for years it is time for my second surgery. Surgeon said it would be a combination of strictureplasty and resections.
The surgery will be on January the 21th.

I’ve changed my profile picture because it is war time. ;)
Freedom!

:thumleft:Best wishes on a sucessful surgery-I also am facing my second surgery, to remove a large cyst from my ovary. On the 24th I find out when I wil be joining you on the battlefield... Break out the blue facepaint!

Thanks everyone for your comments.

I am super ANXIOUS these days.

I think life is funny. When I left the hospital in 1994 after my first surgery I promised myself I would sever go for a surgery again.
And 16 years later I am scheduling a programated surgery.
My pour mom, who was beside me at the hospital at those times, is in crisis. She was hospitalized yesterday with high fever and shakings. Fortunately she is now at her home doing fine. She has been very stressed since she knew about my second surgery.

I will be doing pre-quirurgic tests this week and the following. I will let you know.

I just visited my surgeon today.
I couldn't get answers to many of my questions.
I think he resembles to Dr. Rivera, the Simpsom's surgeon :(

Me - How many resections will be?
Dr. -It depends. We will decide it once we see your guts.

Me -How many how long the procedure will take?

I don't know if they don't want to be compromised for something they say or just it is just a lack of planning.

:frown: I am very sensitive these days.

I'm sorry :( Hopefully everything will go okay. I wish they would have given you more answers to make you feel a little better. Stupid jerks. Keep your head up!

I think what he's trying NOT to say is that he doesn't have the answers to your questions. Maybe he just doesn't want to admit he needs to open you up before he knows for sure.

You have to decide if you're OK with that; if you have doubts, maybe you should consult another surgeon, for your own peace of mind.

Please keep us posted, best wishes to you!

Sometimes they just can't tell until they've gone in. Mine is a similar story and I can't get any answers either. I wish you good luck on your surgery :)

You are right. It is time to chill out. In few hours I will be under the knife.
Thanks to everyone. I hope to see you in a few days.

That is the same thing my surgeon said! I'm having a resection and fistula removed on Feb 16th. He won't know anything until he cuts me open and can see. He said the SBFT gives a good indication of what needs to come out but he can't tell 100% until he takes my insides out and looks.

Best of British luck coming your way Braveheart!
Let us know how you are

I am Alive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One of the bad moments here at the hospital was when they put a NG tube on my nouse here. They just forgot to open the drain for two days! so nothing was running there.

I had three terrible nights in pain, no painkiller seemed to do efect.

I also suffered Hyponatremia the second night, I don´t know what is it.

I had an argument with the surgeon today, he wanted me to go home this morining. I told him I was still in pain and unsecure to go home.
They didn' t even remove the serum wire!!!

Now I am wireless :) and they are giving me the painkillers in pils.

I just had 50g of this:

I will have one of this three times a day.

I hope I do not get depedant to this s[BEEP]t.

If everything goes ok today and tomorrow morning, I will be at home tomorrow's afternoon.

I really miss my 6-yeard-old daughter. She haven't visited me at the hospital because I did't want her to see me here at the hospital to avoid worrying her. We just had some phone calls.

Braveheart

Wishing you well - i've been in your situation too many times
Take it easy mate - one step at a time!

Hi Braveheart,
Good luck to you and I hope you are able to get home soon to see your daughter.

 Wow. You've been thru a lot man. Hope you recover quickly. Mine is on the 15th and I can't wait for it. :voodoo:

Hope things are going well. I know what its like on this battlefield. Had surgery last October.

I know you wrote this message awhile ago, but I am new here, and just read it! I have Crohn's and was also recently told that I have multiple cysts on my ovaries. Do you know if there is any connection between the two?

I think not, but I really don't know.

I want to give you an update on my surgery.

I am a bit worried because surgery pain is almost gone and all crohn simptoms come back :(

I have the feeling this surgery hasn't improved my digestion. I know it is too early to say that; it has been only 12 days since surgery.
I told this to the doctor today, he insisted on the surgery was a success, asked me to think positive…

I hope everything is going well. My last two resections, I had Crohn's symptoms afterwards. You have to remember that there is a lot of inflammation from the surgery and you may have some residual inflammation from Crohn's lingering around.. Good Luck!

I think I am recovering from surgery in a VERY slow way.
I am not sure how much help this surgery is going to introduce :( I still don't see much inprovement. I feel constipated all day. It's been only 18 days from surgery; it is very soon to jump into conclusions.

Today I will visit the gastroenterologist to see what he says.

Tomorrow will be a month since the surgery day even I still recovering from the surgery I think I can see some improvements.

I go to the toilet once-twice a day, where in the past it was 3-5 times.
I still feel some disconfort, as per my experience of my first surgery (many years of remission) I was expecting more than this.

My Gastroenterologist says it is too early and I will feel better little by little.

For those who are interested I will let you know how it goes :)

I just want to give an update to share some good news.

It's been more than two years since my second surgery and I can tell I am very satisfied with the results by now. Even I have some discomfort from time to time, I am feeling much better. I won more weigh and I am able to digest more kinds of foods than before surgery. In overall I am feeling far much better than before.

I've had Crohn for more than 20 years and many times felt miserable because of this disease, but now I am very happy and I think is important to share this with all of you. Be patient and never give up!
