hi everyone. Finally saw the dr. 2 days ago. I don't know, felt like i didn'tlike her. She seemed okay but when i was talking i caught her closingher eyes and she doesn't have a sense of humor which makes it a bit easier. She is down to the point. She is scheduling a colon test and barium enema and gastrophy. Why is she doing colon and enema, shouldn't just the colon test be okay. She ordered alot of blood work and i have to do3 stool tests. ALso she is not putting me under like my last 2 tests. She said they don't do it like where i had it done with anesthesia. She also put urgent on tests and i feel i;m not that sick. That's putting stress on me becasue they are going to give me a 10 day notice. I'm a person that needs to know in advance, now i'll be anxious for every phone call. I almost feel like backing out. I want to be put out. She said they give you fentanyl and versid. I know i got propofol with other tests. Will these 2 kind of knock me out. Very scared. please some advice.

The fentanyl and Versed combo is wonderful! It will knock you out, but you can still respond to the doctor while under---and you won't remember any of it. Well, in most cases you don't remember a thing. It's good stuff!

Don't back out. It's good that she is responding so aggressively. Besides, this way you get everything done in a short time. That's overall less stress than it all being dragged out for months.

thanks for reply. That makes me feel better. She did say she will give more of the sedation because of my anxiety. I just did one last april with a surgeon but i wanted to see a gastro dr. I didn't think the test was going to be rushed and probably soon. But you did make me feel better regarding the sedation.

I have recently had a scope done for the third time and i've had those drug combos. They knock you out and you don't feel horrible afterwards. I was given something heavy with the first one i felt terrible and threw up all day so the drugs you would be getting are alot better. I had to have a egd and then the next week have a scope and each time i was "all there" as soon as it was time to go home.

if she is going to give you extra sedation you will sleep right through it :). i know how you feel when they write urgent and you are saying to yourself 'hang on i don't feel im that sick'. i think like that all the time especially when they want to try new meds and stuff but you are better getting on top of it now, cos i am just getting a really bad flare under control that has put me off work for about 3 weeks and it was because i wasn't really getting my 'moderate' symptoms under control.

thanks so very much for replies, i definetly feel better about the sedation. Karj i hope you feel better soon. I really pray one day there is a cure for this disease.

Also, (and I could be wrong) I think they use the word "urgent" as opposed to a routine test, which could have you waiting on a list for months and months.. it's not necessarily an emergency but it's their way of getting you seen to sooner so you can get a diagnosis. It just sounds daunting to us! :)
