Has anyone ever taken this prep or heard anything about it? I'm a Pharmacy Technician and as far as I know long term use of Senna can cause kidney damage and other complications.... I know it's just a one time thing, but 34 tablets is a high dosage compared to the recommended 8 tablet max in a 24 hour period! I have contacted my doctors office about maybe switching to the miralax prep if they offer that.

Two Days Before Colonoscopy

1. Start clear liquid diet

2. Plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration

3. Take routine medications

4. Take one bottle of Citrate of Magnesium

One Day Before Colonoscopy

1. Continue clear liquid diet

2. Take 17 Senna (Senekot) tablets at 1:00 PM

3. Take 17 Senna (Senekot) tables at 9:00 PM

4. Continue to drink clear liquids until midnight

Nope, never had that one. I use senekot pills once in a very blue moon, like 1 or 2 times a year to get the bowels moving. Citro Mag is not used here in Canada, unless they have a old gi. I use Pico Salax, and two dulcolax the night prior. Easy peasy, but I hate the not eatting part..

Sounds similar to the miralax prep, but I'm going to do this just once since it's too late to cancel... I'm getting it Thursday and they charge a $100 fee if you cancel :/

You must be American ... but I agree best to get it done no matter what. Let us know Friday if you find out anything. Most times they can give you an insight right there, depends on the drugs they give you. Biopsies are the waiting part. Good luck with your scope.

I don't recall anyone on here mentioning it.

Wow, 34 tablets! I guess it is equivalent to the amounts some people are expected to drink.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

The doctor called back and switched me to the Miralax prep, but thanks for posting :)
