Severe Rectal Spasms

Crohn's Disease Forum

Help Support Crohn's Disease Forum:

Um, yes. It is horrific. I swear I can feel the spasm clear to my stomach and my rectum is a mess of fissures and blown hemmies. I am currently on prednisone waiting for remicade approval. I think the prednisone is working but I am only 3 days in. My rectum hurts so bad I have to try not to cry when using the restroom which then sets off the spasm. I hope we both find comfort soon. :)

Crohn's survivor and advocate. Humira quit on me, tried the natural route that cost me 500.00. Will stay on SCD. Currently on prednisone, waiting an approval for Remicade. 6mp is a no go as it hurt my liver and I am allergic to aspirin which rules out mesalamine. Biologics and prednisone are all I have left.

I have yet to be diagnosed as I am still waiting to see a specialist
I have been in and out of emergency with these anal spasms and abdominal pain
It's ridiculous.. I seem to be paralyzed when getting these spasms!

Sorry to hear that you two are going through this. Has it been going on for a long time? Do you know that cause? For me it was during the formation of my fistula- a horrid twingy pain that was very sharp and quick. Hope you are able to get them under control.

Well of course you feel paralyzed. Heck I can't even pee until they stop. You just have to wait them out. So far today, not one AND I can urinate pretty well. I hope you get diagnosed soon. They told me I had IBS for 20 years. Of course no one did any tests and I was too ashamed to ask for any since it was all in my head. Then I went septic, with tons of blood and it was discovered I had Crohn's. Keep pushing for a diagnosis.

I never thought about a fistula. Saw the doc Monday and he didn't mention it. Just gave me prednisone and started the remicade process. I have never experienced pain like this before.

I've been diagnosed with ibs but haven't had the bleeding a crohns person does but definitely have the severe Anal and abdominal pain, no fistulas(that I know if) and no hemroidds

My daughter has UC diagnosed by biopsy then one year later I am diagnosed with Crohn's. My son deals with diarrhea and abdominal pain. They did a colonoscopy, found 2 small ulcers that were undetermined, diagnosed him with IBS and sent him home. I am not hopeful for the IBS diagnosis. /sarc :)

So I just found out the total meaning of fissures and I do get those, for some reason I kept thinking they were like a hemroid, some type of mass.
I completely have fissures..

They way I have been able to pee when having similar issues is to half squat (neither up nor down). I couldn't pee standing up or sitting down.

I am waiting on Remicade, too. The squatting helps, and I keep hoping the 40 mg of prednisone works. So far, nothing.

I had those last year. I went to the ER. They're horrible. My anus felt heavy like my insides wanted to slip out. Felt like I had no control over my body and I could **** myself at any time. Inflammed anus. Horrible. I have found that peppermint oil (natural supplement) helps.

What a comfort to know I'm not the only one who gets this! It is soo painful I tense and have to breath through the pain as I did when delivering my children! X

My life: In bed with trips to the potty so the diarrhea comes out, intermixed with sitz baths that hold off the agonizing Perianal disease. 40 mg prednisone so I can't sleep. Crohn's from my butt to my esophagus, pain in large and small intestine with swelling. And I am getting a cold. I need humor. Anyone got any jokes?
