Heya my name is Hollii and I have a 3 year old who has short bowel syndrome and is on tpn and ng feeds. Been in hosp for nearly two years of his life and he's a little fighter. I'm just wondering if anyone else has a child with sbs and if they have any problems? My little one is suffering bad with vommiting at the minute and I'm worried he has a kink/blockage or narrowing in his bowel.

Thanks for reading this

Hi holli,
Welcome to the forum. I am not sure if we have anyone here with sbs. My familiarity with it is from taking care of a child who had it when I was a nursing student many moons ago. She had lived in the hospital her whole four years of life. No real advice, sorry but wanted to send you and your son a hug. Keep us posted on how he is doing.

I dont know of anyone - but I do know of quite a few kids on TPN only ( no food at all not even NG/G or JG feed) who are able to stay at home with alot of work.
They have MITo disorders
hugs

Holli,
I know she eventually found a foster home and I don't know what happened after that. I am sorry. But I understand nowadays people with sbs do a lot better then they did back then. How much intestine does he have?

Welcome to the forum. I've never heard of that until your post. Poor little guy. Is he in hosp now? I hope he gets some relief.

Sorry to hear about your little one! Sorry no experience here, just wanted to send my best wishes!!

no experience with sbs here, although dds gI has a particular interest in it...I've heard a lot about it. sorry that I'm not any help, but wanted to welcome you and hoping someone with sb experience will be along!

What a beautiful fighter you have. I have a three year old fighter also.
She never seems to let it take her down even though she's ill.
Sorry no advice on SBS.
Hugs to you both.

I was just thinking that our wonderful Susan2 has this. But is not on TPN I think......
I know she'll stop by and offer some advice if she can.

Sorry, Hollii. I still have enough short bowel left that I am not classed as SBS. Let's see if we can find someone else to give you advice.

BTW, did you click onto the link in your thread that takes you through to the Wiki entry on short bowel syndrome. There is quite a lote of discussion there, as well as very valuable information in the entry itself.

One of DustyKat has a child with SBS, I think.

And this is an excellent article that David found.

Hi there and welcome. I'm sorry to hear about your little one :(

What was the underlying condition that led to SBS?

And have you heard of the intestinal transplants they're starting to do?

Hi everyone, I came across this thread while doing a search for a new medication for my son. I know I'm way late in replying to the thread but hoping I can be helpful. My son does not have Crohn's but does have sbs. He is on tpn and has a feeding tube. Please let me know if I can be of help to anyone.
