I've been on Aza for about a year now. When I started it I didn't have very many side effects, but now it seems that I have been getting more and they have been more frequent :( about 10 mins after it take it I get a really high temperature, I get really agitated, feel really dizzy, itcy skin, rashes, feel sick and more. I can't get hold of my doctor till Monday and even then i would be lucky if i can get through at all :(. I do have an appointment with him but thats in april so I am trying to see if i can get an appointment sooner :ybatty:.

So I was just wondering if anyone else has had this?? and if so then what can i do about it till i get an appointment with my doctor-if i can get hold of his secretary

My doc said if I noticed any symptoms increasing to go and see her. I am meant to be on 150 mg a day. I started getting weird effects after two months so decided to reduce my dose to 100 mg in doing so it seemed to cure my side effects. I still have regular bloods taken and all looks good. My advice would be to go see your doc, get some bloods done to make sure all is well and take it from there.
If you can't get hold of our doc and the symptoms become unbearable then stop taking it until you can see your doc. I'm not a medical professional so this is only my advice. I was told that any side effects would stop shortly after taking the drug and missing it for a few days wouldn't effect the effectiveness of aza in the long term.
Good luck

Sounds like allergic symptoms to me. If it were me or my kid I would stop the med until you can at least talk to nurse practioner or doc.

The drug stays in your system for 2-4 weeks so I don't think you need to be worried about missing a couple doses. You don't want to end up in ER with a bad allergic reaction.

Do you take it on an empty stomach? I always take mine after my evening meal and that time I happen to sit back and relax so not doing much. Been on it 13 months now and not noticed any major side affects.

Certainly get ur doctors opinion soon as you can though. Hope you feel better soon.

I don't take it on an empty stomach, i do make sure i eat something before i take it, at the moment i am in the middle of sorting it out, i've spoken to my gastros secretary, my GP and two IBD nurses, they are still trying figure it out so I'm not to sure what they are going to do :ybatty:. When i first started Aza it was fine i had no problems at all with it but now it's been a whole year and i've started to get problems  .
