should i try flagyl again?

i was supposed to take 3x500 mg for 2 months. i could only take it for 10 days as the side effects where so hideous ( terrible nausea, constant headache, stomach disturbance, diarrhea smelled like drug, fatigue, weird feeling of tingling and numbness in my hands and feet)
i tried to handle it hoping it ll go away but after 3 days i couldnt stand it any more and called the doctor who told me to stop the drug till i get my appetite back.
it took another 2 days after stopping it to be back to normal
i thought to my self " ill never be around this drug again, the side effects were worse than any flare up crohn gave me"
as i learned that flagyl is used to cure fistulas,im worried now that one day i might need surgery or have complications just bcus i didnt take the drug like i was supposed to,but in the same time arent i going to have the same side effects if i tried it again?
what should i do?

the thing is i dont know! lol
i really dont know if i have one, i mean none am aware off, doctor told me nothing about that.all i know that the phrase "possible fistula" was frequent in my colonscopy report , i read somewhere that flagyl is used to cure them then why was it described to me if not for that?
u say u never had one and yet u took the drug?now am confused

thanks for yr reply

Flagyl is a common antibiotic for people with Crohn's. It's not just used to heal fistulas. Quick question, did you take it with food? When you say you got nauseous it makes me think you may have taken it on an empty stomach. Also, the D may happen as your body is constantly destroying bacteria and infected cells and expelling them.

Also, how long have you taken it?

If your doctor thinks there is a possibility of a fistula then he may have put you on it as a just-in-case kind of thing.

Best of luck with your symptoms

yeah took it only after a big meal but still the nausea was so terrible and am not talking about a little disconfort,it was terrible.took it for less than 10 days while it was prescribed for 2 months
i was taking cypro the same time so maybe it contributed to the side effects but doctor told me it was flagyl and i finished taking cypro by that time anyways cuz it was only for 10 days so can't tell
thanks

yeah this s the conclusion i came too,my body doesnt like so should stop it .am feeling good right now and should stop worrying about what if this and what if that.

Do not take it again if you had those reactions! I ended up in the hospital with constant vomiting and it turned out it gave me pancreatitis! I immediately stopped it and my pancreas went back to normal size and function...Thank Gawd...I would talk to your doctor first and they should know about it affecting the pancreas.

Agreed with the others: do not take it again without talking to your docs and telling them about the tingling/etc.
