Most of the drugs we take do suppress the immune system, which is what helps us stop flaring-the immune systems is suppressed by the drug and therefore stops attacking (insert problem area here).
I know it's scary to think of suppressing something as important as the immune system, but I know in my case I think it just makes mine behave more normally. I get sick more often and with odd things when I don't take the immunosuppresants.
I've been on Methotrexate for almost two years and Remi for 8 months, and pred for almost 10 years more often than not. I totally agree with paso-it's your own hygeine that counts the most-hand washing, sanitizer, bathing every day, don't touch your nose or mouth etc. the usual stuff.
When I was still working I Lysol-wiped my desk every morning, wiped off the phone every time I used it after someone else had used it, Lysol sprayed my keyboard every day, and asked people nicely who used my stuff to do the same. I know I sound like a nut, but it kept me healthy. This might sound evil, but I found that if you tell people you don't want them to catch anything from you, they are more motivated to be careful lol.
By the way, what do you take apple cider vinegar for and how's it working for you? I've heard good things and have thought about trying it.
