Hi All, had another scope last week & my doctor commenced me on budesonide (entocort) as well as my usual sulfalazine... i was wondering if anyone else had side effects from it, as i am fatigued and feel breathless, its day 5 today ..really hope it dosnt last the 6 weeks im suppose to be taking it for:yfrown:

Thanks , Fiona

I think I am having side effects from Entocort. Although I am on lots of meds, it's the newest one I have started. I feel like it's affecting my mood, causing depression. I have a panic disorder, but haven't had any anxiety symptoms for months until 2 nights ago when I woke up with symptoms. My weight is also creeping up, and I am on a restricted calorie/carb diet due to insulin resistance. So many of my other meds cause fatigue, I couldn't say whether or not the Entocort may be contributing.

For me, entocort made me feel dizzy/tired almost hungover-feeling when I took it. I tried it for a few weeks, went from 9mg for a week, then tried 6mg and then finally 3mg. Even on the 3mg I still felt tired and weak.

Hi everyone,

I can't say if I felt fatigued, but I definitely had horrible anxiety and depression as side effects from budesonide (Lisa, sounds sort of like what you were experiencing); after a week of taking the stuff, I finally called the doctor and was told to stop. 2 days after I stopped, I was feeling much better (well, mentally and emotionally, anyways) and felt like myself for the first time in a week.

That said, I was on a 9mg dose. Starting Monday, I'm going to try budesonide again, but only 3mg... we'll see how I do. The doctor said that if I started feeling depressed again, I should stop right away. Here's hoping.

It's sometimes tough to balance this stuff out -- you want to feel better physically and treat the problems in your gut, but at the same time, you really can't ignore the side effects, especially if they start to get severe. Don't be afraid to call the doctor if you're really feeling awful.
