Hi everyone,

I have a question about skin issues and humira, but I will give you a bit of background. Approx 8 years ago a mole appeared on the inside of my bottom lip, literally over night. Went to Dermotologist and he said it was nothing to worry about and just to get it measured periodically. At the time of this mole appearing I was taking imuran. Now I have been on humira for 5 years. Just this week a spot that looks like a mole appearing almost at the tip of one of my fingers. I'm going to family dr tomorrow to get it checked out. Is there a connection with any of these meds and skin cancer? When I last went to Dermotologist he said I was not at high risk for skin cancer. Just curious why now another new mole. My understanding is new moles as an adult is not a good sign.
Thanks for your help and info!

Well, I don't work outdoors and never suntan. I am always either in the shade or if I am in the sun I always have high spf on. So I was just wondering if anyone has read or experienced increased risk with skin cancer.
Also, I am assuming this is a mole on my finger, I won't know for sure till I go to the dr tomorrow.

On National Institute of Heath's website they say there is an increased risk of skin cancer with Imuran. I have been on it for several years without problems.

Ok, went to family dr today. She said it's definitely a mole but not one that I need to worry about. She asked if I wanted to see a Dermotologist to get his opinion and I said yes. Better to be on the safe side. She said with me being quite fair, it's not abnormal for new miles to appear, but they need to be watched.
If I took imuran years ago, would I still be at a higher risk of skin cancer? Even though I haven't taken it in a long time?
