Hi Everyone,

Is roceasa linked to crohns?

I had a flare up of rosacea a few years ago. Now a few months ago one side of my cheek is red and a little pimply. The dr gave me cream and antibiotics to take but I haven’t seen any improvement yet. The dr did say it could take awhile since I left it for a few months instead of treating it. Anyone experience this? Any tips for helping rosacea?

I have rosacea which started in earnest about 18 months before I was finally diagnosed. I have always suspected there is a link!

Cetaphil cleansers and moisturisers help in the event of a rosacea flare up just to calm it down a bit, but I don’t find they do much day to day.

I find the La Roche-Posay Rosaliac range is better for daily use and does help to reduce any residual redness.

I’m pretty resigned to the fact I’m likely going to have slightly rosy cheeks forever now. Not a good look when you’re as pale as me ha ha!

Daily sunscreen of at least factor 30 regardless of the weather too. I live in the UK so the thought of sun cream in November is laughable really but I do it anyway [emoji28]

I have also heard Avene products are good but I haven’t got around to trying them myself yet.

This could be nothing, but I took a short course of probiotics I bought on the Internet earlier this year, and my skin definitely looked better for a while afterwards. I might try that again just to see if it was a fluke.

It’s interesting your doctor gave you antibiotics. I had a 3 month course of oxytetracycline, reducing the dose a little each month, until I could finally stop when I first sought help.

I’ve been told they would rather not give me those now with the Crohn’s and all, so last time I had metradonizole gel. It did help, but it wasn’t as affective as the antibiotics.
My GP did say we could try them again in future “with extreme caution” so I think I’ll save that for a really bad flare up.

I hope this helps!

Thank for the info. Right now I’m using the same gel you mentioned and the antibiotics. The pharmacy told me it could take a few weeks to start to work. I was just looking for ways to help it. Make up covers a good portion of it, but I hate wearing make up everyday.

Ah I see, that makes sense then. If I remember rightly it took a good 4-5 weeks to start working when I just took the oral antibiotics but when they did they worked a treat. I find that when mine is flaring up, putting makeup on just makes it 10 times worse. The redness really intensifies and my skin is just so tight and uncomfortable. Then in starts to get really dry and flaky, so makeup just makes it look worse anyway.

Thankfully I’m too exhausted in the mornings to wear makeup every day, this disease has its upsides!

Thank you! I try to put the least amount of make up on as possible and I only put it in when going to work which is 2 days per week. So hopefully soon I will see an improvement.

That must be where I’m going wrong, I don’t wear it often but when I do I go to town. It’s probably not necessarily the foundation itself, but primers, highlighters, setting powder/spray etc. I’ll have to try just using a BB cream alone for a few days to see if that does anything.

Thanks for the insight [emoji4]
