I just wanted to ask if this was ok to treat at home or if it is something I have to go back to the hospital for. It's a split at the bottom of my incision and its no bigger than a dime...actually half the size of a dime. It hurts a little bit but not severely and is draining a little bit but not a great amount.

Any advice would be helpful!
Thanks!!

I had a hole that drained for months after my resection surgery. It finally closed up. Call your surgeon and see what s/he says.

I will, I just wanted to make sure as long as there are no signs of infection that there was no need to run to the ER. My surgeon is out of the office until tomorrow but I left a message. Thank you!

I would wait for the surgeon for that and not go to the ER. Most likely if it's not infected, nothing will be done. Maybe some Silver Nitrate to promote healing.

Happened to me in 2 places after my reconnection. They healed up, but took longer than the rest of the incision. My surgeon said to keep gauze on the splits changing them every several hours and to make sure to keep on wearing the post-op corset until they're completely healed.

I'm not too sure about the bacitracin, since I didn't use anything to treat it. Make sure to air it out for 10 minutes each time you change the gauze. Doing this helps it heal.
