My contract is up and I need a new phone. I think I'd like a droid but have no clue what's good these days.

Any new smartphones you suggest?

What phone are you currently using? What features are you most interested in (battery life? Big screen? Expandable memory card?)

I'm an Android fan and my current device (which I absolutely couldn't be without) is the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 - the Note 3 is out and it's better, but the Note-series phones are large. That could be a deal-breaker.

On the up side, they feature a special pen that allows you to handwrite, draw and do other things with the pen. It's a unique feature.

The Nexus 5 by google is a very affordable phone with "stock android", which means it doesn't have any bloatware added on by the manufacturer/carrier. It also happens to be one of the best Android phones out there and it's more pocketable than the Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

I couldn't give you much info on Windows Phones and if you're an Apple fan, well, you don't have many options but one. The iPhone 5s.

Hi, I did have a samsung galaxy 2 but dropped it into a drain in my street and drowned it. I've subsequently had an iPhone 4. Overall I way prefer the iPhone, maybe because i have other apple products and they all sync together, also I find it more intuitive. It doesn't have much memory though which is pretty annoying so check this.

I did a Facebook poll of my friends prior to buying the galaxy, around half preferred iPhone and half preferred the Samsung!

Iphone is great, syncs with all my other devices at home and I have an App called "Toilet finder" which will locate loo's anywhere in any country in europe via GPS. Excellent phone lol

I've used an iphone but didnt really like it. I've had a couple of HTC phones which I love and my next phone will most probably that, unless I can be swayed by a galaxy

Although bear in mind most smart phones will lose battery life after 24hrs...

Thanks guys it's so confusing with all the model numbers s3,4 etc. I definitely don't want an iPhone so I'm only looking at the others.

My main concern is battery life and something about the same size as iPhone.

My last phone was a HTC EVO something . I loved it . It was very easy to use . Due to switching carriers I now have a Galaxy S2 . The phones are very similar . I believe the galaxy has a better battery life .

NGNG, don't give up on the the iPhone - not only does it make telephone calls but it also allows me to bore people at dinners about how wonderful it is. There's no going back ...

I have a Samsung Galaxy Fame and LOVE it. My last phone was HTC Smart Black and that was also good, very easy to use and lasted well - I had it for two years and only changed phones because I wanted something with wifi, it still works perfectly.

I have narrowed my search down to Droid Maxx and Galaxy S4. I like that the Maxx has a great battery life but like the features and look of the S4 more. I am being way too picky here as they are both great phones!

S4 all the way. I have one, my mum has one, my step dad has one, my sister and my boyfriend have s3's.

My S4 can last 48hours without a charge (its about 8months old at this point) but if i'm playing games its massively reduced.

The flexibility that I get from my S4 is what I like
- the battery life
- the ability to have apps on the SD card
- the signal (I know that depends on the mobile network too, but my best mate and I were both on the same network, but she never has as good of a signal as me on her sony.
- the fact its a mini usb charger is also a bonus as it means loads of chargers will work (I use my old HTC charger)
- loads of cases and accessories are available
- insurance is dirt cheap, mine is about £5 a month, and it covers everything
- its really user friendly
- loads of how to guides if you get stuck with anything

I have an S3! Love it, and I had an iphone before it. I can promise Android>iPhone! lol

I find the Samsung quite user friendly, akiva basically gave you the rundown on it, it's an awesome phone!

I would confirm that. I have an S4, got it about a month ago (it is my new work phone). I would say i get about 2 days on a charge, but just barely, and that's with turning it off when I go to bed, I don't play games on it, and I have turned on a couple of the power saving settings. I can't compare it to other smartphones, it is the only one I've ever had.

It does have a very nice screen and I've really had no problems with it so far. It is a little big, but then I'm used to my old little flip phone.

I think I'm going to wait till the S5 or other phone is released. It sounds like in a month a bunch of new phones will be announced.

Have a look at Google nexus 5 if you are going android ,it has no micro SD card but so much free online storage I find you don't need it anymore .

You also get the newest updates for android first on Google phones which is nice for your inner nerd .
