Hi there!

I've had Crohn's for (what feel's like) forever, and now that my daughter is in college and out of the house, I'm a pretty consistent smoker. I go through about 1/2 oz in 6-8 weeks. I also smoke cigarettes. (I know...I know)

Lately my lungs are not feeling okay. But I'm in pain...so I smoke...tummy better - lungs, not so much. And then again from the top! lol

I've only tried to cook with it once and it was a pretty epic failure. So can y'all point me in the direction of some idiot-proof instructions?

I'm also worried about the increased cost. When I did cook with it I used significantly more (1/4 oz for 1 batch of brownies, as I recall). I can handle spending $50 every 2 months - but something tells me it won't last that long cooking with it.

What about the science of it? Is it as effective? I thought I remembered reading an article in here a while back about a specific cannabanoid (???) that was beneficial to Crohn's patients being more potent via combustion. Course, I was probably stoned when I read it. http://www.crohnsforum.com/MedC/smilies/ylol.gif

Thanks for the help brothers & sisters!!!

okay. There are lots of sources on the internet about cooking with it. But the thing to remember is that the helpful compounds are both fat and alcohol soluble.
One of the ways to maximise is by creating a tincture which is basically soaking it in alcohol, if Everclear is available in your state that is the best alcohol to use. You would dose yourself with an eye dropper.
If you are going to cook with it you can either make firecrackers which are easy but taste like hell, or by simmering in a fat, usually butter. Instructions are all over the internet for making any of the things mentioned.
To maximise the use of pot you want to find an indica based strain, something with a heavy body buzz.

Search ISO Hash and hash oil . But you want to cook with it so the easiest option is to make canna butter . Simply search it and many recipes and methods will pop up . I make hash oil with food glycerin . Alcohol based hash oil (tincture) can be irritable to the bowels . Another option to smoking is vaporizing also .

If you want to keep smoking it as well I would suggest moving on to a vaporizer. It has made a _huge_ difference in my lungs. imagine no phlemy coughs and dark mucus. haven't had either of those since I switched.
