So for security sake let's just say my name is Ange.
I was diagnosed for UC just before my junior year of high school. This diagnose came after an entire summer of bloody stools, various tests from a general doc (who didn't have a clue what was going on) extreme fatigue, loss of appetite and cramps. Just before school started I was taken in to the hospital through the ER for massive blood loss and ended up spending 4 weeks there. Through the next 2 years I took Prednisone, Asacol, and Remicade. None of these medications worked very well except for Prednisone which as we all know can't be taken forever.
After my 1st semester at college I contracted Mono, which attacked my liver and created a flare of my UC. I had to withdraw from college and spent 2 weeks in the hospital. I was unable to go back to school in the fall due to my UC and the inability of medications to control the symptoms. Needless to say it was a very dark time for me psychologically and physically. In december of that year I decedied to have my colon removed so that I could feel well eventually. An angel must have been looking out for me cause the surgen at the last minute, decided to do a cavity view and found creeping fat; a clear indicator of Crohn's not UC. My diagnoses was changed and the colon NOT removed.
I was then put on Humira and for 6 years now that has been my lifeline of health. I have had little to no symptoms as long as I keep to my diet and take the humira regularly (1x per week).
Most recently however, (last 2 months or so) I have had a return of symptoms. Loose stool, cramps and fatigue being the major ones. Also at some point in my college career I developed Skin Tags that until the last 2 weeks or so have been annoying but not painful. That has changed it incredibly painful, swollen, often times bleeding Skin Tags. I'm praying that there is something, anything a doc can do to remove or at least lessen them.
I am so very thankful that I am currently a health(ish) Crohn's patient. I recently got married to a wonderfully supportive man and we hope to start having children within the next 2 years (providing my health stays steady). I'm praying hard everyday that my luck holds out.

Hello and welcome to the forum :)

I am pleased to hear that you had a good doc and he was able to get you onto the right diagnosis and treatment. Are you still seeing a GI? Have they been made aware of the skin tags and other symptoms and if so what is their plan of action on this? One thing it would be worth asking them to check is your vitamin levels, it is common for crohnie's to have deficiences on this area and a low B12 for example could be contributing to your fatigue.

There is a lot of helpful info and support here so do have a good look around.

Wow you had alot to deal with at a very young age. I am glad you are able to keep positive and that you have found a supportive partner, no price can be put on that kind of medicine.
I have trouble with skin tags they do seem to flare up and down at will, I have recently found zinc and caster cream to be very soothing.

Just out of interest which diet do you follow?

My diet is NO dairy NO caffeine and light egg products (egg washes and pastry but not scrambled eggs). I am sensitive to blue berries and corn off the cob isn't good for me either so I stay away from those. I keep as healthy as possible diet full of a variety of home cooked whole foods to control the amount of fat entering my diet. Seems pretty basic but it can get really difficult with the dairy.

Hi Ange and welcome. You may want to read our anal skin tags wiki entry to see if it helps provide any insight. The sitz baths may be especially helpful.

Congratulations on getting married and good luck on having some little ones :)
