So frustrated

Hi all. I am suddenly an abscess magnet. And I am so tired of this.
About two months ago I had two setons placed. Two weeks ago I had a fever for several days ended up in the hospital where I had another abscess drained. No seton placed - could not find a fistula she said.
Tonight my rear hurts again and my fever is back. I called the after hours doc who wants me to come in and get what is likely the same abscess drained.

I was supposed to start humira on Wednesday - will they call it off? I was supposed to start remicade last Tuesday but the day before insurance called and denied coverage until I try humira first. If I had been able to start the Remicade would I still have gotten this again?

Sorry this is so long. I am just frustrated.

I'm really sorry to hear about the persistent abscess and that they've called off on the Remi. From what I've read, it's more often prescribed for abscesses fistulae than Humira.
Is there nothing the GI can do to influence what meds you're approved for? I know with Remi they won't infuse if you have signs of active infection.
Sorry, not being much help as I'm in the UK and my fistula was internal, but hang in there. Someone with relevant experience will come along, I'm sure xx

It's definitely possible they will hold off on the Humira, and for good reason. My Humira was stopped when they found an abscess (and they weren't able to heal it with medication). Are you on antibiotics or steroids?

I hope you start feeling better soon and they figure out a treatment plan that will work for you. I'll be sending good healing thoughts your direction.

Thanks guys. Home again. They sewed in a drain that should stay for a few days. It feels just like the tape they used to hold the gauze in. I gave it quite the tug to get it off. WOW! I learned an important lesson about knowing what you are pulling on.

They told me to do sitz baths but I was kind of out of it. Am I supposed to do it today or wait to start until Monday? Does it matter?

Also - I will find out tommorow how long they want me to wait for the Humira.
