so who's having a hard time getting the H1N1 vaccine?

so where i live, there are occasional swine flu clinics but my state feels they cannot turn anyone away so whoever wants it, may get it. meanwhile, my mother and i are unable to get it. real fair right?

is anyone else able to get it?

So far, only the health department has it.....Lines with 3 hour waits going around the building.....I want to get it, but I don't want to wait in a crazy line.

If you go on the Center for Disease Control all the scientific research says that the vaccine does NOT give you the flu - you are not getting a live vaccine so it is not possible to get the H1N1 virus from the vaccine! Now, the nasal mist is a live vaccine but I am pretty sure that can not give you it either...I am a University student in Memphis and have made an appointment to have mine on Friday - don't want to get this flu bug on top of Crohns.. our immune systems are already compromised because of the immunosuppresant drugs we are on...just my thoughts ...

In the UK - I have been invited to an appointment to have mine... fellow Crohnies in the UK - check with your GP, because apparently we are supposed to be given the jab.

The province I live in, in canada has had more people die from the vacciene then from H1N1 itself...

Wow I am in the next Province and I never heard of this... but then again govt only tells you on a need to know basis, how do you know for sure? Just curious as I had the shot last Thursday and I am fine, sore arm at first and then itchy, and aside from getting over a head and chest cold, I feel good.

Ugh it's SO hard for me to get this from my GI's office right now!

On top of the IBD, I also have asthma, which gets really, really bad in the winter anyway. I have asked two or three times now, and the receptionist keeps saying that if I am deemed as a patient who needs it, I'll get it....

What the crap????????

I got one of the 10 doses my work has gotten thus far since we're considered priority both in the chronic illness and immunocompromised categories. Just be insistent that you are at the top of the list if you are on any immunosuppressants.

Also, it is highly unlikely more people have died from a vaccine than the disease itself, unless the numbers are like 1 vaccine, 0 h1n1. Vaccines don't kill people, usually it is a concurrent problem that is triggered by the immune response a vaccine provides. While in some ways this is caused by the vaccine, the problem was already there lying dormant and happened to be triggered by this event rather than another. Also, in general most issues that arise from vaccines would happen anyway, its just a coincidence they happened then. People need to get the facts before they spread fear.

I've had mine! Went along for my monthly Azathioprine blood test yesterday and my friendly nurse offered it to me...felt it would be rude to turn her down. Got the regular flu jab at the previous month's test.

No ill effects so far except a *really* sore, bruised feeling arm...and i'm not usually a complainer about these things!

Not sure if my info bit says it or not but i am in Edinburgh in Scotland. There were signs all round my doc surgery saying they had received a stock and would be writing out for you to arrange an appointment to get it.

No luck in San Diego. The county only has the nasal spray which is not safe for those with compromised immune systems and my Dr. have not recieved any vaccine and don't know when they will.

Unfortunately, I do not work on Wall Street or am I in Prison. I guess if I was a criminal I could get it.

I got a letter from my GP too offering me the swine flu vaccine and the seasonal flu vaccine. Currently it's only being offered to those considered 'high risk' here in the UK. I have an appointment next Tuesday morning to get both though, so that's me sorted. :)
