I saw someone mention yeast in another thread. I've been trying to find out if there is a connection between IBD and yeast. I get yeast infections in places you don't normal get them (under my arm for one), and they don't seem to respond to the usual treatments. Does anyone have any experience like that, or know of any research articles about it? Thanks.

It's my understanding that the test I mentioned to you, ASCA is a test that is somehow connected to bakers yeast or brewers yeast. Google 'Crohn's and yeast', there is a connection. Same thing for IBD and yeast. I wouldn't be suprised.

yes, but what I can wring from the medical jargon is that they look for an autobody against yeast in the intestines? Is there a difference between skin yeast and intestinal? If you have an antibody to yeast, wouldn't you be less likely to get yeast infections? Although, aren't the infections caused by an entirely different fungus? :confused2:

Yeah I have this bad as well. I am male by the way. Under my arms is pretty much always bad and has not responded to treatment so far. I have gone to a dematologist and had three different percriptions fail so far but will be going back again soon. I also get it behind my knees, on my scalp, spots on chest and arms, and in my groin. The bad spots all the skin dies then scabs over and cracks appart becoming pretty uncomfortable. I will check back if I find something that works but I feel your pain. I had never had a yeast infection before this and have not been able to treat it yet. Please let me know if there are any secreats or anything like that as I can't realy talk to my guy friends about it.

I get them under my arm and in the crease of my thighs right now. One thing I'm finding semi helpful, but I don't know if it's smart, or really useful, I take some TP and push it into the affected creases, and leave it there as long as I can. I seems to take up some of the moisture, at least for awhile. I hate it though, it's really uncomfortable, and I feel like I smell like a bakery.

I'll have to check it out, Pen. So far I've used the OTC monistat stuff, and some Rx Nystatin. (which I actually got for the corners of my lip, when my dentist thought that stuff was fungal)

Sometimes the crack on the corners of your lip is lack of Vitamin c. That may help, I get that too. I have vaseline on my lips all the time. Also I found some toothpastes makes it worse, I use for sensitive teeth and Sensedyne made my lips peel. Took me a while to figure that one out.

Finally! Someone else who has trouble with so-called 'sensetive' toothpaste. I find it makes my mouth burn for a few hours, then all the skin starts peeling off from the inside of my cheeks.
