Hello all. I am a 33 year old Canadian male and new this site as well as being new to the disease. Although I am yet to be officially diagnosed with CD, all signs point to it. I was in the hospital with very sharp abdominal pain on Feb 6th. XRay and Ct scan showed inflammation and thickening of the bowel. I was sent home with Oxycocet and told I would be contacted by a GI specialist soon. Eight days went by before I decided to call the office myself and I was given an appointment of March 10th. I have since seen my family DR who has only refilled the Oxy prescription. I was also given something for oral thrush that I noticed on my tongue. At the present, my stomach seems to be less painful, however, I am now in some fine pain in due to a fistula.

HISTORY - In 2004, I had a fistula that was very painful and erupted on it's own before seeing a proctologist. Once I seen him, he said that it was fine because it erupted. In 2008, family doctor noticed a lump on thyroid and found cancer. On my second thyroid surgery, they aslo did surgery on the fistula. Shortly after the second surgery, I noticed I had oral thrush. I was given meds for this at the time. The thruish seemed to come and go. I could understand why? In the last few months, I have had boughts of uncontrollable shaking. I would get a chill and it started from there. I would have two sweaters on, under the covers and shaking until my back would start to cramp. I always thought it had something to do with my thyroid (or lack thereof). I also remember having sharp cramping pains in the abdomen in the past six months.

I am presently in limbo awaiting to see a specialist. I have taken the last week and a half off work (policeman). I continue to take pain meds because I don't know what else I can do to relieve the pain. I'm starting to feel like a junkie because soon, I will have to go to the doctor again and tell him I need meds. I saw this site a few days ago and I started reading the posts. It was like someone was telling my life story. After reading and comparing my issues with others, I am pretty sure of the ER dotors suspicions. Anyways, thanks for having me and it's great to see that I am not alone. Cheers.

Welcome! Another fellow Canadian here. :)

I'm currently in the waiting zone myself, trying to get a diagnosis for all these rotten symptoms i have. This is an excellent place for knowledge and support.....I can totally relate to the waiting times also, they're ridiculous at time! Hope you get some answers soon.

Ditto another Canadian Crohnie. I too was in my worst pain at 32 and being on percocets or oxycotin is hard on your body, drink lots and always take them with food. The CDN doctors are being very cautious of giving them out. My Gi gave me Tramadol, but they make me have bad dreams at night so now I have Tylenol#3... yeah everything kills your liver if you take it too much. I used to use Milk thistle to help protect it but I cut my pills in half so I have just enough to ease the pain.

When you are in alot of pain do you vomit sometimes? Narrowing will do this too. Avoid chewy foods or hard to digest until you see your doctor, live on Ensure if you have to. Trust me you'll save yourself alot of pain ok? Welcome, and let us know how your appt goes! Take care, NO stress!

Welcome!
Another Canadian Woo Hoo! :)

I hope they get everything figured out for you real soon. the waiting game sucks!
