Before I became ill with IBD, I found that drinking a clear soda such as Sprite/7UP/Sierra mist would sometimes help calm things down. Ginger ale can help too. But after I became ill, I find that carbonation does me no favors. I'm not sure if the little bubbles get stuck my guts or what, but it's a pretty painful experience! Plus I don't do well with that amount of sugar. The last time I tried drinking soda, I had about a half a can and fell asleep from the sugar crash, and when I woke up I was in pain. It was not fun and I don't plan on drinking soda again. For a beverage that helps with nausea, nowadays I prefer ginger tea (peppermint tea can help too, but don't drink it if you have GERD - it can worsen things in that regard).
