I have had a perirectal seton in place for the past 8 years and have been in remission. almost 2 weeks ago I started feeling kind of pressure and poking down there. Went to colorectal surgeon and she said it looked ok to her and put me on flagyl. Started taking it and I felt like I was being stabbed with hot needles!!! Also burns when urine touches it! I am 7 days into the flagyl and its feeling much better but it definitely looks different and still swollen down there. Looks like a pimple near fistula but she looked in the office twice and on CT and said no abscess. Had a CT and showed thickening in the rectosigmoid column. They did not see any infection or abscess. I am supposed to have a colonoscopy asap.
I am not trying to get a diagnosis on here, but I just want to see if anyone else has ever felt similar pain or has gone through something like this. I have had an abscess and this pain is different. Would inflammation really feel like hot poking needles?? Also, once I'm done with the flagyl will the pain come right back? Any insight would be great. Thanks!

Hi rose*flo, sorry it sounds like you are in a difficult situation. Pain that is described as hot or burning and sharp is often indicative of nerve pain. So that's a possibility. Any pressure on the nerves is probably secondary to whatever is going on inside. Hope you get some relief whatever the cause.

Thank you so much for the reply Muppetgirl! Maybe that's what it is. I didn't think of that. Obviously neither did my Dr. The pain was almost unbearable. 3 days left of the flagyl and its feeling about 60% better. I'm so scared the pain will come right back when I am finished with it.
