Hi Dave! I started Humira a few years ago, and it has done pretty well by me. I was very, very nervous about the starter doses. I have a few pieces of advice. First, the nurse may recommend you do the injections in your stomach or in your legs. For me, I have found that injections in my legs are far, far less painful, and that doing them lying down makes them no worse than a bee sting. The second piece of advice is that I usually wait until my Humira warms to room temperature, which also reduces the pain.

Don't worry about the allergy stuff. In terms of the pain, it probably will hurt, but it never hurts as much as you'd think. The starting doses are the worst, and from then on, it's a walk in the park.

I have no idea about drug reactions, but you should definitely call the nurse/doctor in advance. Humira has made my life better, so you can look forward to that!

Thanks, ive had the loading dose now (about 4 hours ago) and so far so good. Did 3 injections myself. I did let the syringe warm up for 20 mins. I really hoping this will make life easier. .:)

Humira has done wonders for me and with a clean diet. I started in January when I was in the hospital for a very bad flare up and Prednisone was doing nothing. Keep us posted brother!

Glad it went well! Humira was like a wonder drug for me, I went into remission with in a month of starting it after almost dying from a bad flare. For it to work that quickly is rare, but its a drug I truly believe in . Hope things work well for you!

Im also taking pred and sulphsalazine along with the humira thats probably doing me more good but as long as I feel well im happy :)

Dave,

Humira has worked wonders for me. Relax as it becomes easier each time you inject. I had been very concerned with the possible side effects but none in the past 2 years plus.

Best of Luck

Just a quick update, it's been a week since my loading dose of humira and im feeling great. No pain and only going to the toilet once ot twice a day ! Hope this is a sign of things to come ;-)

Humira worked great for me for 18 months. It's tricky getting used to having inext yourself but it made me so much better. Unfortunately due to my fear of needles I was keen to stop and since I was fine for so long I came off. Worst idea ever. I started back on Humira however my body had already created antibodies against t and never worked again since. I am now waiting for an operation. Good luck with it all. I really did work for me !!

Well my consultant seems to think that's the reason I am now needin surgery. I have now developed a stricture and no medication is helping. I know Humira is not good for you in the long term and all the potential side effects it can have. But if I could turn the clock back and inject once a fortnight and be pain free then I would take any potential side effects. Live for today and all that.
