Hi - I started back on Aza about 3 weeks ago,75mg, my GI wanted me to go back on but i really wasn't keen. I have had a terrible weekend with severe abdominal pains, so not taken them since Friday and feel a whole lot better already. Mr GI doctor is on holiday until my next appointment in December but i have spoken to his clinic and they assured me I have done the right thing stopping the tablets.
Mr doctor insisted that this was the best treatment for me since there is a lot of inflammation at the site of my surgery (from 20 years ago) but apart from some bad attacks of the big D and some fatigue I generally feel OK. So my problem going onto the Aza was the side effects of increased risk of infection etc and the rest.
So I just wondered if anyone else had anything similar or to hear your views ?

Alot of people have trouble with Aza, alot of people swear by it! I wonder if posting this in the general forum section would get more replies though?

Pancreatitis is what I would be worried about with those symptoms!

While everyone wants the "perfect" drugs to work, not every medication sits well with every person. 6-MP keeps pushing my white counts really low, so even though it appears to be the best option for me, I'm working with my doctor to adjust the dosage and consider other drugs because this one doesn't seem to be realistic right now.

Definitely ask your doctor to check your bloodwork! With 6-MP being so crazy for me these days, I have blood checked every week. Then you can reevaluate together to make a plan that fits you and your symptoms best. That sort of pain doesn't sound too good for long-term use of Aza, for sure.

I cant recall what dose I was on before - it was between 50-100mg. But the strange thing is I was on that for years with no really bad side effects. Just the expected low immunity, fatigue etc. so a bit puzzled why this should happen. Still struggling to accept that C is so active that I need such nasty drugs.
