My GI doctor wants to start me on Humira in a few days, as I have not responded to other medications well. I am kinda nervous about doing the injections, but I know I will be feeling much better once I do start taking Humira! I have heard of nothing but success on this medication, so I know the tiny bit of pain I may feel during the injection will be worth the huge gain I will feel from being the medication! Any feedback from personal experience is greatly appreciated as well!!

Welcome to the Forum! Yes a lot of people get relief from Humira, but you need to be aware it doesn't work for some. I've been on it twice now the first time it was a wonder drug, this time not so much. I had to stop it the first time because of a histoplamosis infection. Seeing you are in Iowa you may want to read up on the fungal infections associated with Humira. Histo is prominent in the Mississippi & Ohio River valley's. Not trying to scare you, just want you to be educated about this medication. Good luck! Hope it works well for you!

They want to start me on it too next week a nurse is coming out to show me. Super nervous but lots have said its 10 seconds of pain so we shall see. hope it works for us both x

Yeah I wasn't aware of that being present near the Mississippi. I will have to ask my doctor about my risk of getting this infection. Thank you so much for letting me know about that. Chicken I hope the medication works wonders for you. Crohns is such a terrible disease that nobody should have to suffer through. Mine has made my life miserable at times and I'm hoping this medication will work for me!!

Duke, do you think that Humira loses its effectiveness? Took Humira for 2+ years and started to lose weight earlier this year. No other complications from Humira (knock on wood!)

It did for me. Most likely because I had to stop it because of a case of Histoplasmosis and then restarted it. Figured I developed anti-bodies to Humira. First time I was on it for over a year and it was great!
