Hi everyone - some advice please

I am due my first injection this week (8 weeks after my infusion). Just wondering if it is OK to postpone it for a week or two as I am getting over the flu and still don’t feel 100%.

I know going forward once you are on a maintenance dose that you should not inject if you have an infection or been ill (like with most biologics).

However, I am wondering with this first injection if you do delay it, will it mean having to start all over again?

Love to hear your views please, especially anyone who may have been in this situation.

Thanks 😎

I would check woth your GI
Do you still have a fever or complications from the flu ?
Does your GI know you have the flu ?
Typically biologics are held when you have the flu and extra measures are given
Definitely talk to your GI quickly

Hello mlp

My IBD team are fully aware of what’s been going on and have said that they will make a decision as to what they recommend once I feel ready to have the injection.

I am mostly recovered just a little cough every now and then but I had the initial infusion after a heavy cold 7 weeks ago and within 2 weeks caught the flu proper and also had pleurisy.

I have asked my IBD nurse whether I could delay it a week and whether it would affect the maintenance regime going forward. They will not say one way or the other just that they will decide once I am ready.

If I knew that I could delay a week with no adverse effect, then this would be my likely choice.
