Has anyone had this? For those who are a little confused I'm talking about a narrowing of the intestines.

I was thinking it seems to explain a little of my problems if I have a stenosis that is closing off during inflammation. I just went 5 days and counting with spurts of pain at 7 or above. I've been having bowel obstruction symptoms and constipation too (but I've managed to get enough out to avoid the ER).

I get bowel obstructions when I flare. If it is only due to active inflammation and not scarring you can most likely avoid the ER. During your flare go on a liquid / soft food diet. For me it usually only takes 24-48 of a liquid diet to put me right again.. but my flares only last a few days to a week anyway.

I've always thought it was just purely inflammation but now I'm thinking that I sure do get obstructions a lot. Enough that there is probably some other factor contributing.

Luckily there are only so many things that can cause obstructions:

Adhesions (scarring) from a surgery, hernia, compacted feces (usually due to chronic constipation), scarring or inflammation from Chrohns.

But also remember constipation can have the same symptoms.

I think you get a little bit of scar tissue with each inflammation.
If the inflammation is in the same location every time, there's a build up which can lead to stricture....
but maybe that's just me? (i did have surgery)

good luck!
