Hello, I've been using steroid enemas for five days and since then my condition is improving. Symptoms reduced quite a lot. But I have two questions:
1)Can steroid enemas used in long term, as a maintenance drug?
2)Can steroid enemas lose its efectiveness in time? (I have always had left sided Crohn's Colitis)
Thanks.

I once used them for 45 days straight. knocked me into a remission which lasted nearly a decade. If the liquid from the enema reaches where the disease is situated, then in can do wonders. If the disease spreads up out of reach, then.. you'd need to look at alternates.

I don't know much about steroid enemas, but I do know that 5-ASA enemas can be used for maintenance. Hope that helps a bit, sorry I can't offer any more advice.
