So what do you guys eat when Prednisone rears its ugly, HUNGRY head?

I have yet to find any particular food that satisfies the hunger.

I have Tupperware boxes in the fridge full of cooked pasta with tuna and mayo
or chopped up cooked chicken and white rice and cucumber and I snack all day long on them, and I love houmous and chopped up carrots.
and for something sweet, loads of HobNob biscuits dunked in tea!
And Fruitellas or Fruit Pastilles (they're part of my 5 a day!)

Now I've just gotta lose the Pred fat!!

First, the food. Then, the plate and silverware. ;) Just got off pred a week ago and gained 16 pounds net (lost 10, gained 26)! I was really craving protein and ate alot of tuna and an unbelievable 9 pounds of peanut butter in two months, I am embarrassed to say. I could stand to gain some more, but my clothes don't fit the way they used to, so it looks like I'm about to start doing some situps or something. lol I was thankful to be able to eat again and "a little in the middle" doesn't bother me terribly much. I wish I had better food recommendations for you -- I ate what my body seemed to crave, among the foods I know are smart for me, of course.

At least you managed to finish dinner before you were hungry again. I remember going to the fridge to get a snack, and realising I already had something and was eating it! As for foods, I craved savoury and carbs (toast, crisps, that sort of thing). Nothing seemed to fill me up, so I just ate what I felt like.

haribo's maynards wine gums loads of dark chocolate and crisps.im not very healthy that way haha but who cares!!!!!:thumleft:

@Rebecca85...you made me smile...that was funny. I know diet is important with CD but when you feel so sick...any comfort is better than no comfort...Today I cut back to 10mg Pred...I am hoping to start feeling less "large" soon. Hopefully the Aza is going to be able to sustain me...with the Asacol. Off to the market...again.

I'm thinking about what to eat next...while I'm eating!

OMGosh spin, you managed to make me actually laugh out loud AGAIN! It's funny cos you just explained me exactly. I look in the mirror too and wonder who the hell is this girl with this gobble gobble chin and puffy lil cheeks! I keep apologizing to my dear husband for the way I look. And bless his heart, he keeps saying "I don't see any difference". Love must truely be blind!

On a more serious note, my neice was on a HUGE amount of pred. for pregnancy induced asthma. Needless to say she was puffy all over. And after she had the baby they gave her diuretic's and she lost like 15 pounds in two days (all fluids of course) So I was thinking, do you think most of our weight gain is fluids and if so why aren't we on diuretic's so we aren't so puffy all over. I truely don't understand why I am gaining weight. I eat three healthy meals a day and I fight the urge to snack. So I don't get the weight gain unless it is all fluid!

I am going through this right now...popcorn...and its not good for me I know. EVery morning I eat a bagel and/or toast with eggs or something so I will not have an upset stomach...I finish dinner and 10 minutes later I am hungry again. Chicken...pasta...I am craving Italian subs a lot...not good...I hope I can lose this chin...it belongs to some fat lady that keeps looking at me in the mirror...I don't know who the heck she is!

OMgosh you all are so funny! You have made my day! <Still laughing>

Might be a really good idea to use the opportunity of hunger to feed your body with foods that will provide your body with what it needs to heal itself permanently, instead of just propogating the vicious cycle.

You have a great chance to push some good stuff through your body and put it back in balance as opposed to the usual nutrient devoid processed foods, meats, fat and starches that make up a typical sickly diet.
