Still trying to figure out anemia

So now my iron saturation is down to 8%. And my iron is low. I had hemicolectomy 8 months ago. So is that what this is? and they will just treat the crohns and give iron supplements? Or should I ask for some investigation of any kind?

my iron has always been low and i take iron supplements. I take 4 - 37.5mg pills of elemental iron a day and it seems to keep it up but every person is different and you need to get your blood checked. I take chelated iron and it does not have any effects on my stomach.

I don't know how much ileum you have had removed but depending on the amount you may need to be on B12 injections for life. This area of the bowel is also where some of the body's Folic Acid is absorbed.

Aside from iron do you know what your values of these two things are? If they haven't been tested ask for a blood test for B12 and Folate.

Yes I am waiting for folate result; B12 was in normal range on low side, like around 330 in a range of 225 through 800 or something like that. I have never had folate tested so I'm rather interested to find out! Sometimes its nice to find things to explain tiredness, etc...
