still waiting for my diagnosis so frustrated :(

Hi everyone im Kim and im 24 im new to this. This is my story so far

For some years I have experienced abdominal discomfort but nothing that has affected my life until recently! for the past 6 months I have been getting attacks of severe abdominal pain so bad i am doubled over and on the floor on my hands and knees to make it go away. I have never experienced pain like it its agony! the sharp pains and cramping are then followed by the loudest gurgling bubbling noises ever. Most attacks i end up vomiting and this will usually last a whole night I will vomit until there is absolutely nothing left to come up! sometimes i cant even keep fluids down. Eventually after that the pain will ease. The nausea at times is unbearable the smell or even mention of food makes me vomit! I have a temperature once it starts also. I have been passed off by my doctors as 1st of all having IBS then acid reflux and most recently the pain was so bad i went to a&e were they treated me for indigestion!!! I have had so many blood tests i was treated for anemia 1st of all now I have been told my white platelets have been raised since 2009 and my CPR is 140 when for an average healthy person it should be 4!! My blood tests have shown that I have an inflammation somewhere I just dont no where. I have had ultrasound scans which came back clear, a chest xray and xray of my stomach both clear. I have also had the camera down my throat and a biopsey taken which were again clear! They are now arranging a CT scan and an MRI scan so they are my next steps. I am just so miserable its happening every couple of days now I am exhausted constantly havent got the energy a girl of my age should have im not sleeping properly my appetite is terrible once it starts I have lost a stone in weight, lost my job and just desperately want a diagnosis as i am worried sick and need some pain relief. one of the consultants I have seen has mentioned crohns. Do my symptoms sound familiar to anybody here

Thanks for reading this

Hiya Kim
and welcome fellow Brit, not so far from me!

I do know one thing, you don't lose weight with IBS!
So don't let them fob you off with that old chestnut!
Have you had a colonoscopy? this could be the next test when the others come back 'normal'
We have an Undiagnosed Club here on the forum, loads of info in there for you.

Hi Joan

Thanks for replying! No i havent yet had a colonoscopy this has been my dread is it awful? My consultant has suggested i have a CT scan and MRI 1st and if these are clear I will then have the colonoscopy im such a baby going throught these things but better than being in constant pain so i no it has to be done xxx

Ps: I live in Huyton so very close to you :)

colonoscopy is not bad at all. Its the prep that gets you. I think it is worth doing. Good luck :)

Colonoscopies aren't that bad. The worst part is the prep. They put you to sleep so you don't even know they were there. I was diagnosed with Crohn's after my scope. I had lost ten pounds before they did the scope. While I was at the hospital, I was throwing up and the nurse opened a little packet with a little cloth in alcohol. She put it to my nose and the nausea and vomiting were instantly gone.
Hope this helps and you start feeling better soon.
