I had my illeostomy reversed in November. My doctor originally told me 6 weeks for recovery. I'm going on almost 3 months and still not feeling better.

I'm still going to the bathroom a lot throughout the day and night. This making it very hard to get sleep. I'm having a sense of urgency about needing to go to the bathroom. This all makes it very hard for me to feel comfortable to leave the house. Have other people had this long of a recovery? What did you do to speed up/ improve your recovery. I'm completely miserable. Please help.

Hi I had a stoma reversed nearly 12mths ago. The first few months were similar to yours. I got given loperimide from my doctor to slow down and thicken the bowel movement. I also needed to go on questran as I have bile salts malabsorbtion. This can be a problem with resection surgery. Maybe worth getting checked out in regards to this.
Hope you can get this sorted soon. Sorry for quick answer as I'm off to work soon, please let me know if you want any more information..
Best wishes đź’•
