Does anyone else have issues with serious stomach bloat?
Since starting the remicade i feel pretty healthy & dont really have any dietary restrictions. The only issue is my stomach distends quite a bit, especially after i eat. No pain, Just very puffy. It looks like i am a good 5 months preggers!
any idea y this happens or what if anything can be done to prevent it?

thanks!

Hi and welcome to this great forum,

Im fairly new here and im not fully confirmed yet:confused2: well the surgeon who done the colonoscopy said he is 99% sure that i have crohns from what he saw, i have had a ct scan done which has to be repeated tomorrow(ugg!) and will get my results of biopsies also tomorrow, he is so sure, he has even started me on steroids, and dipentum, anyway, one of my symptoms is severe bloating, so i can understand your frustration with this, i went to the ER once because it got so distended and the nurse was convinced I was pregnant, even though I tried to convince her I have had Merina Coil for the last few years, she still insisted doing a preg test, Im afraid i cant tell you why this happens:( eventhough my mum and sister have crohns, I am only finding out about all these symptoms myself now, I dont think I make much sense now as Im not that good at explaining mself, but i just wanted to let you know that YES I think this is a symtom with some people with crohns, but im sure the guys here with more exprience will be able to give you some insight into this symptom, they are great

all the best,
sheila

Yup, another Bloaty here
My whole life.
I also take digestive enzymes and probiotics, though nothing
has been able to stop my bloating. I was even on antibiotics for
a year and I still would bloat. So it has become something I just deal with.
:voodoo:

I'm on Remicade too and I get that really bad too. Mine is because I overeat. I know I'm overeating, but I haven't been able to eat proper in 6 months...so I'm making up for it. I have gained 6 pounds in 2.5 weeks.

Ha Agent -
it IS miraculously gone every morning & yet comes right back once ive had breakfast & there for the rest of the day - its a never ending cycle!!!!

i also suffer from bloating, hate it. sometimes if something isnt right in there
i bloat to the point of extreme pain followed by being sick to relieve it.
funny old game

i have watermelon tummy too ever since i started prednisone. i look like a pregnant dude.

Ugh, I know what you mean. Remicade + prednisone + TPN (got off it 2 weeks ago) has made me gain 15 friggin pounds in 10 days. I look like a bloated whale :ylol2:.

::edit:: Back on topic, bloating sucks. I miss the old days when food wasnt an issue and I could have whatever, whenever. Grrrr :[

cd i also bloat a bit, the stomach just gets really firm by the waistline and expands, kinda weird, but appears to be harmless.

Anyone else have a bloated tummy that moves around?
Mine looks like an alien is trying to escape from inside of me,
pushing its way out. Freaks my family out when I show it to them. :ylol2:
But also doesn't feel good. :(

YIKES!
No, Im not. :)
Good thing too, it would be CRAP timing.
It would also be the LONGEST pregnancy known to man.

Prior my surgery this past Oct 1st, I would often get bloated especially after a big meal where I'd have to undo the button in my pants and go to the next hole in my belt. It would be no trouble to gain an extra inch or so in my waist size, and I am normally a 32 or 33.

But since surgery where they removed 4ft of bowel (some due to a tumor, the rest due to chronic Crohn's with many strictures), the bloating has been dramatically reduced and my stomach empties faster. My feeling of fullness is a comfortable feeling now that only lasts maybe an hour or two after a meal.

I'd also get gassy due to bacteria overgrowth. Funny story here. Back in 2001 I had bad stinky gas. I've actually made a friend of mine vomit from the stink, true story! Besides the gas, I felt fine. One day I saw my GP as I had pain in my sinuses. He gave me ampicillin for 2 weeks as he thought it was a sinus infection. I saw him again after those 2 weeks as the pain was still there. In the middle of talking to him, I realized that my gas had practically disappeared about 2-3 days after starting those antibiotics. Not only was it not stinky anymore, the passing of gas was reduced by about 90%. So when I get really gassy, I ask for a course of antibiotics which helps alot. The pain in my sinus I figured out after was due to the new subwoofer in my car. The booming of that box was to blame for that so it seems. I went on vacation shortly after that GP visit and the sinus pain disappeared. When I got home and blasted that woofer again, it came back. What a blessing in disguise that was.

I seem to bloat most often when drinking water in isolation, like a few hours between eating anything else. Maybe it unhappily settles on top of the other stuff. It's really annoying -- sometimes you just gotta drink some water, and associating discomfort with drinking water is not something I want.

(Off-topic: anyone else slightly perturbed with the ad at the top of the page advertising weight loss? :ymad: )

(Edit: Just drank some water. Bloating within 1 minute, despite feeling just fine for several hours. W.T.F.)

YES! IF I lost that much weight I'd be DEAD. It is very annoying!

Googled this. Im recently back on remicade and all my "unhealthy self" symptoms are coming back. Constant bloating + break outs all over and muscle weakness.

i HATE MEDICATIONS! I gained 10 pounds and i have NOT been overeating. and I also don't just feel bloated after eating, ill drink WATER and it'll make me bloated.

OMG i am SO happy to read that!!

I get that and it freaks me out so much! I lie in the bath watching it all move around - its exactly the same as being pregnant and watching the baby move!

:lol2:

Regarding bloating i too slowly fill up through the day until i look like a full term pregnancy - and like others i go to bed and its magically gone by morning.

Although when i say "magically" my husband tells me its not magic, its a whole night of noisy, stinky wind:thumbdown:
