Hi there folks, quick bit of background before I launch into the more unpleasant stuff...I was first diagnosed with Crohn's back in 2003, had two or three serious flare-ups before a lengthy time unwell for around 18 months or so. I then started on Infliximab in early 2014 and since then I've been in remission, with next to no symptoms of my Crohn's occurring (apart from stomach pain).
Yesterday I started to feel quite nauseous around mid-morning and increasingly lethargic as the day went on. I wasn't actually sick however, and my appetite, although not quite what it normally is, didn't seem particularly low and I tried to go about things as normal. At the time, I thought it was just the week catching up with me - I had been to a gig on Monday night, out with friends on Tuesday and then on Wednesday and Thursday night I had played football and went swimming, and exercising on two consecutive nights had left me feeling pretty stiff and sore! I went out for dinner yesterday evening, but started to feel quite sick while eating and ended up vomiting when I got back home. That seemed to ease things a little, and I was able to get around 6 hours of sleep, but since waking up this morning I've had diarrhoea roughly every half hour, and although I haven't actually vomited, I feel nauseous as though it's very likely.
Does this sound like it might be the start of a flare-up or does it sound more like some sort of stomach virus? The reason I'm asking is because one of the friends I was out for drinks with on Tuesday night had had to reschedule from the previous Tuesday because he was suffering from sickness and diarrhoea, and I'm wondering if I might have caught something off him. My blood results have all been pretty good recently, there's only slight inflammation and my most recent Infliximab infusion was just last Monday (April 9th), so I'm keeping my fingers crossed this is just a stomach bug and it will pass in a few days, but whenever anything like this happens, I'm terrified it's going to be a flare-up, especially after having been well for such a long time.
Anyway, I'd really appreciate any input you might have, or advice if you've gone through the same thing (this being a Crohn's forum, I think I can safely say that that will probably be the case!)
Cheers,
Paul
