Well..I got sent home early on Sun because of sharp stomach pains. By the time my husband came home, it was more of a dull pain. I had taken a new kind of probiotic and some tylenol during my lunch time at work and it had taken time to kick in.

I still get the stomach pain off and on. Does anyone know if once you've had them, this is something that you have to keep a watch for very often? What do you do for your pains?
Thanks
Lisa

That sort of pain for me is often caused by something I ate. I will take painkillers, and curl up with a hot water bottle (lying on my left side feels better) and try to work out what I ate that set it off!

Thanks Rebecca:) Glad to hear that you've got something that works for you! Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to matter what I eat. Got a call from the doctor's office today and looks like I've got an upper endoscopy now scheduled 5/23. Although it's over a month away, at least I'll be looked at...

Could be dealing with ulcers, inflammation, a narrowing etc. The cause of the pain is unknown so what I do is exactly what you did, call the GI office and make an appointment or let them know my symptoms where the GI will order some tests. I do this if I notice that the pain is either extreme or if its a slight nag every now and then but in the same location. I'm not a fan of letting pain just happen and treat it with pain killers or anything else. I want it to stop and the only way to do that is to find and treat the cause. In the meantime you can use painkillers or whatever method works best for you.

Do you best to try and get an earlier test date by calling the GI office and telling them that the pain is too much, its in the way of your daily life (maybe it prevents you from working or focusing while at work) and especially let them know if its getting worse or if you experience any new symptoms. You can call everyday or every couple of days to see if they have a cancellation or can squeeze you in as an emergency or even ask your GI if they are willing to run another test in the meantime, one that the GI doesn't have to preform himself (like a barium x-ray or MRI).

Started calling the GI dept on Monday to see if I could obtain a closer appt for my Upper Endoscopy. So far no luck. But, thankfully today on the 4th day they're sending my Doctor a note to see what they can do in the meantime to make me a little more comfortable while I wait. Supposed to call me back with some ideas...

No luck so far with getting an earlier appointment. However, I'm still calling everyday. Thursday and Friday the doctor's office and I were busy playing phone tag. Wish I could say that I'm getting better. But, I'm losing weight fast because I'm not able to eat much along with the stomach pain and nausea afterwards. My husband says that I'm close to the same size I was when we got married. I really can't afford to lose any more weight...

Had some luck today:) Was able to set up an appointment for tomorrow 4/18 to have my upper endoscopy done!!! Am a little apprehensive about it cause I had one done junior year in high school. At that time, they didn't give me enough to knock me out and had to give me more cause I was gagging. Then, they were afraid after they gave me more that they gave me too much. Very thankful though to have this be done and am hoping that it will bring some answers and help to hopefully finally start getting me to feel better...

Hope you feel better!

Going through the same stuff. I let my pain go for a little too long though :/ Now its horrendous but doctor says gastritis doesn't look too bad. Well, it hurts like heck and my stomach is all swollen.

Heat helps. For some reason sardines help my pain. Not sure why. I also try to drink protein drinks to help with healing and eat fruits for antioxidants.

Made it through the upper endoscopy. Nothing was found, although a couple of biopsies were taken to make sure. Doctor was concerned about my loss of weight. Even though I mentioned that the asacol I'm on doesn't seem to be working she advised me to increase the dose. Got sick from the numbing meds I was given and wasn't able to keep anything down until bedtime the day of the procedure. Finally am able to eat again though.

The thing that doesn't help is that I have that bug going around and had a fever from it last evening. A little warm today, but heading into work this evening. Have a pill cam test scheduled for 5/2. We'll see what happens...

I hope you find answers soon. I'm still having issues even on meds for acid... crazy. I get fevers after I eat too but those seem to be getting a little better. My crohn's isn't even that bad but apparently I'm still losing weight like crazy.

Well, I wish you the best :)
