I have been stressing really bad lately about how long I'm going to receive my medicaid. One of my worst fears is losing my health insurance. I have never gone into remission and all my medications and appointments are beyond payable on my own. If you have crohn's are you guaranteed to receive health insurance? I'm on SSI and am afraid that if the government ever deems me able to work or social security funds run out completely that my insurance will dissapear right along with it.

You aren't guaranteed coverage through Medicaid, but through High-risk Insurance Pool (HIP), you probably are. Look up this website:

I hope it helps you. Also, try to relax a little, if you can. Stress can really exacerbate our symptoms. Maybe some yoga, meditation, or a hot bath before bed will help. Good luck and feel better soon.

I don't know anything about medicaie. But I know about stress with money and insurance.

I agree, try yoga or reading. Just try not to dwell on it. I know its easier said then done, but you know its for the best.

Keep your head up.

Those PCIP plans don't look too bad and a broker I am in contact with told me that the 6 mos without insurance requirement has been lifted. Have not found out yet if that is actually the case because I am still hoping for a job with benefits .....
But, at least, if that is the case, it would be a somewhat affordable option as opposed to NOT having health insurance at all.

Thanks for that link. I know I shouldn't stress so much but my insurance has been causing me a lot of problems lately (denying me for medication they have been covering for years) because my mom put me on her insurance, which does not cover any pre-existing illnesses and apparently must be my primary insurance but they are just going to deny any and all of my crohn's related expenses. That makes medicaid my secondary insurance but they should be picking up whatever MED MD doesn't and they have not been.
I tried yoga before and it seemed to help some. I think I may try it again. Also, warm baths are one of my favorite things in the world for stress relief.

I'm really glad you're going to try yoga again. Sometimes, I give advice hoping that I will be motivated to do it for myself, too. Well, what you said reminded me about how much it worked for me. I think I'm going to do it again, too.

*hugs*
