Strictures?

Are strictures narrowings in the colon. Can you get a narrow rectum as well, this is where my inflammation is and sometimes I have pencil thin bowel movements.

lara,Yes & yes. Be careful what you eat, cut down on fiber especially veg skins & hi fiber cereals, pips or seeds.

Thanks, does this include green runner beans because thats what I had the day before i had a narrow stool.

Hi Lara,

I have a stricture in my rectum and mine are like little worms! I don't remember what a normal sized one is supposed to be like anymore lol.

Have you told your GI about it? They should be able to out you on medication to help unless you're on it already?

Yes i am on mesren. When I had my sigmoidoscopy, they didn't mention any strictures but im connecting them to my diet now.

I always eat a low fibre diet. Mushrooms are a killer for me.. they block my strictures up!

I got put on methotrexate for my strictures as I have a very long one in the sigmoid of my colon too and that really helped. They also use azathioprine too.
