Hi Everyone,

Thought I would just say I was around but not up to much at the mo sorry.

Was admitted to my gastro ward 10days ago and have been on IV Cipro, Flagyl and hydrocortisone ever since, along with IV fluids for the first three days due to dehydration. Went through 3 days of vomiting and running to the loo with only tolerating water in the end so contacted the gastro team and my GP and gave in:tongue: .

Have had a CT scan, Barium Follow through and chest and abdo xrays done. Next Tues they are going to do a white cell scan as all my blood tests are now within normal parameters and they are convinced I am still in inflammatory mode. Apparently this White cell scan will show inflammation up.

To date there has been much discussion about inflammation causing 3-4 strictures but they think they may also be old ones or a combination of both and cant decide til all the results are in as to the best course to take. Meantime I am here resting, stuck on elemental drinks only and no food again and all the IV's. They also need to decide whether I have my third Remicade infusion next thurs. Am happy enough though because at least they are trying to figure out what is going on now and running all the tests rather than my having to wait for outpatient apps.

Am feeling better overall in myself today and just would like it to continue now!

Just wanted to say I have been thinking of you all even though not been up to getting online myself. Hope you are all doing ok.

Hey soupdragon.. Hang in there. I know that going to the hospital isn't the at the top of the list of things one wants to do... But, there is a positive side to it, as you noted. Hope all goes well, they figure out what is wrong, and come up with both a speedy and effective treatment that has you up and about, and feeling better soon.

Sorry it had to get so bad before they took some action. I never liked hospitals much but when you need them, it is good to be there.

I hope they can get thing under control and am glad you are feeling better presently.

Give us an update when you feel up to it. Maybe in a few days you can get back to a more normal life.

We are all pulling for you.

That sounds like the same regiment when I was in the hospital recently. Sorry to hear you're going through the same thing. It's good that they're running the tests there, though, instead of making you wait for outpatient. May God bless and restore you.

Hi Guys,

Thank you so much for your thoughts its really helped me cope these past couple of weeks.

I made it home last night. They decided I now have Irritable Bowel Syndrome ON TOP of the Crohn's. Have started me on antispasmodic tablets as a result. I am still on steroid tablets and have to reduce over the coming weeks. Go back to clinic in 4-6wks time and they put my remecade on hold last week but now want me to have my third infusion this coming week again...

They say I MAY have at least ONE stricture in my ileum but cannot outright prove it as it looks like 3-4 on CT and Barium x-ray but on colonoscopy cant be seen. Figure that out! So they think more inflammatory rather than structural stricture and the remecade will sort it. The white cell scan didnt show any inflammation anywhere and they decided that the IV antibiotics and steroids I had for the previous 2 weeks cancelled it out.

I still am on elemental drinks but they have put me back on the LOFFLEX diet which is low fat, low fibre, gluten and dairy free and to retry foods in the weeks to come.

Funnily enough I am very glad to be back in my own wee corner! Am black and blue from blood tests etc and very happy NO ONE can prod me anymore!!! :)

Am off to revel in the luxury of comfy sheets and the fact I can do what I like when I like! Hooray for being at home is all I have to say!

Glad your back home. Let us know how the treatments work out for you.

Do something fun, you deserve it after that long hospital stint.

Good you got out of there. It can really wear on you after a time. Especially being poked and prodded all hours of the night.
