I went from skin and bones to overweight, thanks to steroids. I would eat like a horse, because I was always hungry. So last April I went on a diet, I got an activity tracker and joined myfitnesspal.com, (free) and I find the combination really works for me. The treadmill helps too. In two months I've lost 15 lbs. I think if I lose it slowly like this, it will stay off. I'm already getting rid of clothes that are too loose.

Congratulations!

I too lost a lot of weight (GI telling me if I couldn't gain it back he would recommend tube feeding-yikes!) Well...when I could eat again, I ATE again. Now I have him watching my weight because I need to lose some.

I lost about 10lbs using myfitnesspal with exercise. It really is eye opening how much you are eating when you enter in every item. It helped me make better food choices. My issue now is getting back into the habit of exercising...My last vacation ruined my routine and I have been struggling with getting motivated again.

I hope you do keep it off...sounds like you found a great plan that's working for you!

Been there!!!! Went from 86 lbs prior to diagnosis with CD to about 160 lbs after prednisone allowed me to eat again. Still working on getting the weight down. sparkspeople is also a great tracker.

Totally understand! I have a really fast metabolism, but when I am on Prednisone, I gain so much weight. I do hold it pretty well but, afterwards I just want to flush it out. I have found that upping my potassium and magnesium (can have laxative effects, so be careful) afterward really help with getting the weight off. This along with healthy eating and exercise helps.

When you are not well, this stuff can be near impossible, but once you are feeling better it can make a world of difference. I started Cimzia about a month and a half ago and am finally feeling mostly normal again. It is such an amazing feeling, now I can start to concentrate on getting more healthy through weight loss and healthy activity.
