Hey all, I am scheduled for Bowel Resection on 02/06/12. I cannot tell you how nervous I am. I am going to have my Cecum removed along with about 12inches of my small bowel. I was diagnosed with Crohn's in March 2011, after several years of constant diarrhea and abdominal cramping. I have been on Imuran but had to stop due to hair loss, now taking Methotrexate inj. and remicade. I feel that my symptoms have gotten better but still have day to day issues. My last Colonoscopy on 12/21/11 showed that the inflammation was better but there is severe narrowing and skip lesion. Does anyone have any words of wisdom and could help with what to expect with this. I am open to anything to help me get through this.
Thank you all for listening, it is so nice to have this forum to corrospond with.

Surgery can help so much. Being nervous is normal, but you will be in safe hands and it will be over before you know it...then its the road to recovery. Every one is different but there is one thing that really helps and thats to be positive about it all...
Me and crohns have been best mates for years...it never leaves me and stays with me through good and bad times...sometimes we fight and i get rid...but it never fails to come back...its been with me longer than most friends..i know where i stand with my mate crohns...and sometimes its helped me get out of things i dont want to do...
wishing you luck x

Good luck! I know how you feel. Be sure to take vitamins! Please repost after your surgery.

I had open small bowel ressection back in Feb 11, and after a quick recovery, I was 200% better. I feel like I have a new body. Being in good shape really helped my body recover, no smoking or drinking for me. Never had any real pain after the ressection, just on some pain meds for a couple weeks. Really nothing to be scared of.
