Hi folks,

I saw this article about having surgery for crohns through the belly button in a newspaper the other day and found it quite interesting.

Just wondering if anyone has had this surgery before or has any thoughts on it?

I did not have such a surgery done, but had a laparoscopic rectopexy, where the camera was inserted through my belly button and the cuts were on my lower stomach.

Hello there,

Thank you very much for asking, I feel much better without having my intestine come out every time I use the restroom to have stool.
After my first surgery my stitches were really itchy and sensitive to the climate changes, but since my second one, I only had little cramps, but feel absolutely dandy; though my intestine became infected with a flare couple of days after surgery and have been struggling with it since. However, from force when I have stool, a tiny bit of my intestine started to come out a again once or twice. My doctor suggests I not use any force and do intimate exercises which would help it.
Otherwise I have a scar in my belly button, a long thin line under my stomach from my second procedure, and a couple of snowflake looking ones around my lower tummy from the laparoscopic/first surgery, as a constant reminder of what I had undergone. :D

kisses, Aya
