I am near the end of my rope. My GI has told me that I have acute sever Crohns colitis. He says that I need to be on a drug or surgery. I have been on Humira and Cimzia and prednisone and uceris. I have had horrible result with all of them.

I am currently on a dose of prednisone again to try to reduce inflammation but after I will need to make a choice. My question is: maybe surgery is the answer? It's the one thing i haven't tried and I'm going mad. I'm scared and upset and I don't want to make the wrong choice again.

Any help is appreciated.

Maybe since you have tried all kind of medicines, you should try the surgery. This us a very supportive group. Let us know how you are doing.

Hi loki all the meds failed me a couple of years back. I opted for surgery. I had a ileostomy with resection. Iv never looked back been great for nearly 2yrs now. Had my ostomy reversed last feb. Still no major issues... i have joint pain n fatigue but otherwise pretty good. Of course the choice is one you should make after thoughtfull consideration of all options. Wishing you the best whatever you decide to do. Take care đź’•

When meds failed me, I got surgery. What was happening was that I had a stricture that was so bad, the drugs did nothing for it. Surgery was the only option, and I'm very glad i got it. Perhaps you could schedule a consultation with a surgeon just to discuss options and ask questions?

My surgery has helped a great deal. It cured me of my relentless cramping pain, and reduced the diarrhea...although some D remains and I do flare from time to time. But my life it greatly improved since the surgery. And now that I've gotten the surgery, my body is responding to the meds that it wasn't responding to before.

I really didn't want to have surgery, but I realized that I had no other choice. I could not live any longer with the pain i was having.
