sweet potato agony

has anyone had any problems with sweet potatoes? my husband had some over the thanksgiving holiday and is now in agony!

I've always thought that sweet potatoes were pretty easy on my body. It's one of my go-to foods actually. Sorry for your husbands pain though.

Are you sure its just from the sweet potato? Did he eat anything else that might have made him feel pain? Was there skin on it? FOr me it seems that they are good for digestion, I know everyone is different, but it is one of my go to foods also.

I have yams all the time. Nutritionally, they are very sound.

Sorry to hear they may be causing problems for your husband.

I am surprised because when I went to a naturalpath that was the first thing that she said was very nutritious and good for Crohns, I lived on them as a safe food. I recently avoided a possible blockage from a fatty turkey. Most times it is what we dress things with, like beans or butter, sour cream, or dairy products that are usually the culprit. Once you get into a flare from something you ate, it can take a while to settle it. What else did your husband have besides Sweet potato?? It just baffling to me. I know the pain from something you ate, and at that point you care what caused it, just make the pain go away! Let us know what he consumed.

Never have a problem with sweet potatos. Often people put things like currants in them, or pecans on top, etc. All those extras ruin me, but just plain sweet potatoes and I am good to go.

Sweet potatoes are one of my favorite foods - and to date I haven't had any problems when I eat them with a regular meal. Now, at Thanksgiving and Christmas - that is a different story. We always make sweet potato casserole (with the brown sugar, butter and pecans on top) and that along with sooo many other fatty things always does a number on me. I can never figure out exactly which thing gets me - probably all of the richness/fattiness of the food.

Sweet potatoes are one of my safe (and favorite) foods as well. I've never heard of anyone being allergic to them either but that doesn't mean it isn't possible. I tend to agree with the others though that it's probably something in the sweet potatoes or else another food that he ate with it.
